Match Report U15s
Boardman v Mellor 7-9 cup game
Yesterday was a tough day at the office and not the result we all wanted. A number of factors contributed to this , playing 8 a side was one of them, putting us out of shape and changing the game plan we had. We also had a lot of girls to rotate through reduced player positions.
The game started well though with some great goals and we pulled away 3-1. The game became more physical though on both sides and this altered its direction with lots of tempers lost and emotions running high throughout the game.
The second quarter saw us concede 4 goals with only one reply. After a few time outs we settled somewhat and third and fourth quarter the girls fought hard and battled to stage a come back. There were some lovely assists and a couple of nice cuts which was good to see. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough and we lost the game 7-9.
There is an aspect to the game we need to work on though and that is our emotional conduct and temperament. There were a number of incidents yesterday that are unacceptable and we will be working through these at the next training sessions. The desire for the girls to win is great and the coaches love this tenacity we want to keep this, we just need to channel this to remain positive and in control when emotions run high. It will come as they mature and we give them some tools to deal with it . (Not literal tools as that would be dangerous! ?)
Training this week Wednesday at Cleavley Running track. The session will start for the U15s in the cafe area .
Thanks as ever for your support ???
