Mellor/Norbury 10 v B&E 10

It’s taken a while, but my blood pressure and heart rate are finally back to normal! Quite possibly the most thrilling match to watch this season.

We made a strong start, Grace barely tested in the first 10 minutes as our attack and midfield applied constant pressure. We took an early lead, but Mellor managed to sneak one in before the end of the quarter.

We continued to dominate in Q2, with a strong success rate at the draw. The girls did a great job keeping their shape, especially with some playing in unfamiliar positions—credit to them for stepping up for the team.

In the final minute of Q2, Mellor called a timeout and their tactical change worked. They spread the play well and did a great job of cutting in. We conceded several goals, although Grace made some excellent saves—including one to the face, thankfully with no injury.

We called a timeout in Q3 as we fell behind for the first time, 7–6. Q4 was goal-for-goal, with neither side backing down. With 40 seconds left, Mellor led 10–9, but thanks to Annabelle at the draw and a pass to Erin—despite taking a swipe to the head—we equalised.
