U11 Match report
Bears 12 -V- 3 Heaton Mersey
Lots of positives to take away for the girls today. After a narrow defeat to HM just a few weeks ago in the cup, the girls came fighting back with a point to prove.
Usually, we only play 8 at most, but given HM's numbers, we agreed to loan a few girls and play the entire match at full strength, 10 a side.
The hard work they've put in at training recently, working on spacing and heads-up play, as well as some draw work has paid dividends.
The first half closed at 7-1, after great contests around the field, strong defence and good accuracy - all audibly calling for the ball when free showing strong team work.
With the action being primarily against Mersey's cage, goalies swapped at the half with Francesca taking a turn in cage.
Scoring slowed a little in the second half as fingers and toes began to freeze up, but they all dug deep finding the back of the goal 3 times during third, and 2 more during the fourth quarters.
A great performance from the HM goalie meant a number of shots were saved as well, which would have been even more in our favour.
Goal scorers today:
Anna - 4
Sophie - 2
Francesca - 2
Minnie - 2
Elsie - 2
With Minnie being voted PotM for our side.
